Anti-OCxCanon Groups by Konata101 Anti-OCxCanon Groups by Konata101
Like I said in my last stamp, I'm not entirely anti-OCxCanon - when it's done right. (not butchering the canon character's personality, not making the OC a mary sue, not murdering the hypotenuse, etc.)

And I'm not against general OCxCanon groups, like :iconaph-ocs: or :iconouranxoc-love:, because those are for everybody's OCxCanon pairings.

But when you make a group about only your precious little OC in love with your most favoritest bishie, that's just being silly and attention-whorish, imo.

Because, although I hate to generalize, most OCxCanon pairings are just self-insert, fap material for the OC's creator.

Feel free to comment.

And then there's the entire group dedicated to the Transformers OC named Causeway.

It kinda bothers me :P

I share the sentiment for the most part. Some people make it work. Some don't.

when you say it that way...

What I don't get is if your creative enough to make an OC why not work on your stories instead of using somthing someone already did?

I agree.

I would just make a forum in the OC-group for the shippings, but it would just be cuddles, holding hands, sitting together romantically, etc but nothing too weird.

I'm really okay with OCxCanon but making a group about your OC and the canon character?

I, too, have OCxCanon pairings due to having anime & video game crushes, but I don't need to make groups about my OC in love with my favorite bishie. I submit my works of my OCxCanon pairings into general OCXCanon groups instead.

Pfft, sure, why not!

I hate canon/OC pairings most of the time. Groups for them? Just no.

I don't mind OC/Canon (I have one myself... He he... :iconimstupidplz: ) but when the creator makes groups for them? :iconexplosionplz:

Where have you seen a OCxCanon group?
Samantha-Deathwish Featured By Owner Mar 14, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
I approve of CanonXOC but the groups? As long as it's made by one of the fans and not by the creator herself or her friends, I'm perfectly fine with that.
Miyuki-Tsukiyono Featured By Owner Jan 17, 2013
,If you're right but hey, I guess it's just the same that when create a group of broken pairings XD I consider that too very bad
for that if they are to make fake pairings, it is easier to create a single club canonxeverything need is there to make a fanclub for each pairing canon? not even make sense
also especially when no consistent or real existence in history, and only a creation of the fans simply xD

the truth when I see the characters is very good and I really like the character or pairing if I join xDDDD

Groups like this :iconjuicyapples-lovers: must burn.

They need to realize that no one but themselves are ever going to love something like that.

Ugh. This is so true. Mary-Sue OC x Canon groups are utter FAIL MAIL.

Now I have to admit, I've had a few video game crushes. But never once have I made an OC to go with those characters. Never mind a Mary-Sue OC that apparently has the power to butcher the original personality of the canon character. In fact I actually love the canon characters that said crushes are paired up with. I'm not saying that I'm anti-OCxCanon, I'm sure there are some good ones out there that stay true to the canon's personality and wants.

Now here's some templates I've seen of self-insert Mary Sues paired up with butchered canon characters and their rival:

1: Self-insert OC comes in, falls in love with canon character, canon character's canon boyfriend/girlfriend is a total bitch/slut/leader of a group of bullies and puts down the OC and seduces said OC's love interest (canon character) leaving the OC heartbroken. They get up together in the end by god knows how.

2: Canon pairing is together, one canon character meets self-insert OC and falls in love...SOMEHOW. He/she suddenly leaves other canon character to be with the OC.

3: (My personal favourite) Canon pairing is together. One canon character finds out that the self-insert OC has been watching him/her because he/she has a crush on said canon character. All of a sudden said canon character decides to break up with the other for no reason and decided to be with the OC.

Also I can't help but be really irritated, yet greatly entertained by those people who always use KAWAII DESUNESS MAREE SUE SUGOI! WATASHI IS JAYPONESSE NEKO DESU! Even though most of which are trolls.

Anyway, that's my two cents. That's the last time I'm using repetitive language like that. >.<
PeachyPuppyGirl30 Featured By Owner Dec 13, 2012

4: The creator acts like the canon pairing never existed.
Aquastick102 Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2012  Hobbyist
Hahaha. I don't even remember writing that until you commented. XD

But yeah, also that. It would make sense if the canon character's girlfriend/boyfriend is missing or possibly dead, and the OC is there to try and make him move on. But at least show some development between the canon and OC such as a growing friendship, or struggling to believe if the canon boyfriend/girlfriend is really dead, or just missing.

I hate it when it's just like, "Man, that guy/girl is hot. I'm gonna marry him/her and start a family...what? I have a canon mate that's missing and probably praying for my help? Who cares? I bet he/she's not as hot and overpowered as this guy/girl."

Yes, I agree with you. If it's done right, then OCxCanon couples are acceptable, in my honest opinion. And yes it's silly to make a group for your own OCxCanon couple. There are two people on DA that I know that did that, however while one of them created the group themselves, one of the people didn't create the group. Someone else did as a gift or something like that. So maybe that's more acceptable, but I still really don't know.

But yes, you are entirely right. It's sad when you have to make your OC a self insert and pair her up with your favorite character. Personally, I like my men in flesh and blood.

Im so tired of seeing it,oc x cannon isnt horrible,but..a group only dedicated to your pairing only?
